Prin Advanced Manufacturing Engineer![]() Prin Advanced Manufacturing Engineer Requisition 65128 Category Manufacturing Business CardioVascular Division CV SHD - RaD Location USA-CA-Santa Rosa Relocation Relocation eligibility to be determined Job Type Full Time - Regular Exempt/Non-Exempt Exempt Shift First Travel Percentage 0% Experience Required 10+ years Education Required Bachelor of Engineering Medtronic is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer Position Description * Advanced Manufacturing Engineering position to work in the Structural Heart Disease manufacturing organization. * Responsible for the support of product development through the various phases of the program. * Ensures the product meets customer requirements utilizing DFLS tools and developing robust and economically feasible manufacturing processes. * Develops state of the art equipment to implement new manufacturing technologies. * Lead the effort in terms of setting up pilot area capabilities that may be required for clinical trial and/or verification builds. * Develop strategies for Make/Buy decisions and overall manufacturing strategy development. * Leads transfer of product from development to final manufacturing site. * This position will work under general direction with some latitude to determine technical objectives of assignments and will require significant interaction with the R&D department during the early phases of the program. *This position may supervise the activities of lower-level personnel. Position Responsibilities * Provides input on product designs and develops manufacturing processes to deliver products with lowest cost, shortest cycle times, and highest quality. * Utilise DFLS tools where applicable to assist the project in achieving all it goals * Plans and performs a wide variety of technical tasks to develop robust processes and solve non-routine complex manufacturing problems in an effort to maximize consistency, cost effectiveness, and productivity. * Work with R&D to develop product specifications * Assist in project planning and budgeting. * Oversees the design of all special production machinery (jigs, tools, fixtures, machines, and handling equipment). * Justifies purchase and coordinates procurement of equipment required for new manufacturing methods. * Develops sequence of manufacturing operations, tact time and yield requirements and opportunities for fixturing, and/or automation versus manual operation. * Ensures processes meet agreed, process capability yield and tact time requirements. * Lead make/buy decisions for components and assembly methods. * In conjunction with supply chain and vendor quality, develop and execute on plans for vendor selection * Partners with other departments to ensure that the manufacture and purchase of components meet functional requirements at the lowest possible costs. * Lead the transfer to the manufacturing site of new products during development cycle. * Provide technical support for production scale-up or solving related production issues. * Assists and advises R&D during development on methods to improve manufacturability. Recommends design modification and process changes where advisable to minimize cost and tact time and maximize yields. * Develops Process Qualification, and Validation Protocols/Reports, Manufacturing Instructions. Performs DOEs as necessary. * Coordinates the development of the Supply Chain for new products. Basic Qualifications * BS in related engineering discipline * 10+ years experience in manufacturing engineering and product development support. * Leadership experience via facilitation of a cross-functional team. * Experience in management of project level and cross-project activities. * Experience in direct management of a technical activities and/or team * Advanced math skills and intermediate statistics (process capability, DOE, Gage R&R studies, FMEA, principles, etc.) * Experience with reading blueprints, ECOs and operating procedures. * Proficient in computer skills such as MS Office, Medstat, SAP, Agile. * Thorough understanding of mechanical principles, testing, and manufacturing processes. * Ability to work independently and resolve issues without direct supervision. * Ability to handle multiple complex tasks concurrently. * Strong project management skills * Thorough understanding of GMPs * Demonstrated knowledge of the functioning of other related disciplines * Knowledge and experience with DFLS / DFM. *Ability to lead interaction with senior external personnel on significant technical matters Desired/Preferred Qualifications * Knowledge of ISO and Quality System Regulation requirements. * Experience incorporating new technologies into manufacturing. * Strong verbal/written communication and influence management skills. * Strong presentation skills. * Proven ability to accomplish critical project level objectives in a team environment. Physical Job Requirements * Able to stand/sit/walk up to 8 hrs/day * Able to bend/stoop/reach on a regular basis during the work day * Able to travel independently to various Medtronic buildings/sites. * Able to use computer & monitor to develop, review, communicate job-related documentation. * Able to participate in meetings, conference calls and use telephone. |
