![]() RN-Orthopaedics 3D and 3E![]() 28123 Title: RN-Orthopaedics/3D & 3E Entity: Spectrum Health Grand Rapids Pay Rate: 22.25 - 32.30 Job Description: Schedule: 72 hours per two-week pay period, 11:00 p.m. to 7:30 a.m., every other weekend. Job Summary: Spectrum Health consists of two acute care facilities with a combined capacity of over 1,000 inpatient beds. We also offer opportunities in our outpatient settings including offices, clinics, occupational health, Urgent Care Centers and Surgical Centers. This position provides nursing care to patients with orthopaedic conditions and surgeries. The RN collaborates with other members of the health care team and uses clinical judgment skills to diagnose and treat the patients responses to actual or potential health conditions. The RN will assess, monitor, detect, plan, and take appropriate action to prevent potential physiological complications associated with specific health problems and / or medical treatment. Job Profile: Spectrum Health Orthopaedic services has been nationally recognized for the past 2 years as a top 100 service. A trained team of health professionals focuses on patient assessment, treatments, education and family communication as they support patients in their recovery. There is a strong team commitment among the staff. We have skilled preceptors providing mentorship for the new staff. We provide Orthopaedic classes for all new staff and an individualized orientation that focuses on unit standards and the employees specific needs. A unit educator and an Orthopaedic CNS support our education. There are 8 or 12 hour shifts available with every other or every third weekend availability. A weekend alternative plan is also available. The Center for Joint Replacement on 3D is dedicated to caring for the joint replacement patient. More than 2,000 joint replacements are performed each year. The Center for Joint Replacement currently ranks 6th in the nation in terms of volume of Joint Replacements. Patient Satisfaction has ranked in the 99th percentile since opening in 2005. In 2006, the Center for Joint Replacement was awarded the Spectrum Health Synergy Award for providing exceptional patient experiences. In June 2007, The Center for Joint Replacement was awarded Disease Specific Certification from the Joint Commission. The Orthopaedic Unit on 3E cares for a wide variety of orthopaedic diagnoses as well as the joint replacement patient. Approximately 90 staff members provide exceptional patient experiences for our patients. Job Requirements: Graduate of an accredited nursing program. Bachelor of Science degree in nursing preferred. Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the state of Michigan. CPR certification or acquisition within 90 days of employment. Successful completion of a competency-based orientation program. Other: Time management and organizational skills. Effective written and verbal communication skills. Working knowledge of computers and their application preferred. Working knowledge of a variety of health care equipment. Ability to make quality, independent decisions. Ability to instruct and direct the work of others. 80% of time spent standing and/or walking. Ability to lift up to a 60 pound weight load. Very frequent lifting and bending, pushing and/or pulling loads. Able to work effectively and efficiently under tight deadlines, high volumes and multiple interruptions.
