Chevron Services is accepting online applications for the position of Category Manager, Process Control and Instrumentation located in Houston, Texas through November 4, 2008. Overview: Manages procurement strategies, global contracts and preferred supplier relationships for Process Control and Instrumentation. (PCI) Position Details: Key Job Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to: . Within the Equipment Category Group, manages the category procurement process for Chevrons enterprise wide requirements for Process Control and Instrumentation. Works with a cross functional team to establish short and long-term procurement strategies for assigned category. Manages the procurement processes including: global market research, price/cost analysis, industry trends, commodity best practices and industry benchmarking. Directly accountable for the successful implementation and execution of the corporate wide strategies and the subsequent delivery of significant benefits to the company for the spend category assigned. Acts as internal change agent through fact-and knowledge-based influencing . Negotiates leveraged contracts (International Master Agreements) within delegated limits of authority for strategic commodities and services (primary preferred suppliers are Yokogawa and Fisher). Develops strong Advanced Supplier Relationship teams for implementation of Chevron and category goals and business plans. Develops negotiating strategy with input from internal stakeholders, acts as key commercial expert during negotiations, acts as primary contact for these suppliers . Proactively identifies and establishes continuous improvements and total cost reduction opportunities in close cooperation with Preferred Suppliers. Sets annual cost improvement targets (TCO) and reports annual results. Conducts periodic Supplier Performance reviews, addressing both Performance Metrics and Continuous Improvement activities . Reviews strategies with OPco Supply Chain Management to ensure coordinated commodity/service category management and to ensure Chevron is maximizing leverage across all OPcos and Business Units . Ensures assigned contracts are in compliance with all company, industry and regulatory mandates. Works with Procurement legal to develop and modify any global contracts . Manages eCommerce relationship with suppliers including; electronic catalog transfers, interface with eProcurement systems, resolution of pricing discrepancies, and total cost analysis . Represents Chevron at selected industry wide forums and symposiums such as; NAPM, AMA, CAPS, preferred supplier user group forums, etc . Actively supports Chevrons Small Disadvantaged Business Program through direct contracting, participation in and support of Regional Trade Fairs, and outreach efforts such as supplier mentoring, training and dispute resolution. Works with primary contractors to maximize 2nd tier contracting opportunities Required (Basic) Qualifications: .
