Headquartered in San Ramon, California, and conducting business in approximately 180 countries, the company is engaged in every aspect of the oil and natural gas industry, including exploration and production; refining, marketing and transportation; chemicals manufacturing and sales; and power generation. Chevron Global Downstream is accepting online applications for the position of Fuels Technology Specialist located in Houston, Texas through November 20, 2008. Overview: This position is responsible for leading product stewardship across the aviation fuel testing program for Chevron globally. Works with all parties handling aviation fuels for Chevron such as Manufacturing, Marketing Logistics, Product Supply and Trading, Supply Optimization Group, Shipping, Pipeline, and other related 3rd parties. Position will involve travel. Position Details: Key Job Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to: * Manages research & recommends industry test programs as it relates to aviation fuel testing. Develops an in-depth understanding of all industry testing protocols and the implications of testing. Assists with developing and coordinating aviation fuel product research activities with the Research Center and outside agencies as needed. Assists with the approval of new/modified product specifications with refining, logistics and trading, and assuring that technical information and data is distributed throughout the organizations. Monitors and tracks trends in aviation products. Prepares and distributes bulletins on product technology. Assists with providing technical support to the legal staff in defending the corporations interests in product related judicial actions. * Advocates Chevron positions with government, industry & customers and ensures responses developed. Maintains strong contacts with representatives of airlines, airframe/engine manufacturers, governments, and other industry representatives through direct contact with and/or membership in technical societies, industry committees, customer associations and governments (ASTM, API, IATA, GAMA, ATA, NATA, FAA). Participates with other supplier fuels specialists to keep abreast of new changes and trends in the industry. Collaborates with refineries and Product Engineering Department (PED) on proposed federal/state legislation/regulations affecting aviation product specifications and establishes corporate positions on such matters. Represents the company as the aviation fuels technical authority with customer executives in order to achieve excellent relations and provide necessary support on technical issues. * Ensures Aviation Fuels information is shared company-wide. Serves as a focal point and a resource for fuels technical information. Provides Subject Matter Expert (SME) guidance to Aviation as well as refining, marketing logistics, pipeline, shipping and any other Business Units (BUs) involved in the delivery and handling of aviation fuels. Reviews literature to determine if potential information could be utilized by the corporation or has some strategic value. * Researches and assists with new product introductions to ensure technology alignment between Aviation and other Fuels Technology group(s). Provides guidance on risk of potential negative product interactions and the implication these events could have on the aviation product supply chain. Manages the flow of technical information to ensure the Product Quality and Fuels Technology (PQFT) Manager is informed of any long range issue that requires some system modifications to provide time to for proper business planning activities. Required Qualifications: * Bachelor Degree * In lieu of a degree, a minimum of 5 years experience in Fuel Technology analysis/testing may be considered Preferred Qualifications: *Bachelor Degree in Chemistry strongly preferred Relocation Options: * Relocation may be considered within Chevron parameters. International Considerations: Expatriate assignments will not be considered.
